आत्मनः स्वात्मनः पर्यन्तं  | JOURNEY TOWARDS TRUE SELF

With the welcoming presence and blessings of Ganeshji, I dedicate the first blog of Kaal Karma to Sri Ganesh and Guru Kottureshwar.

How well do we know ourselves? What is our true purpose? These questions which trigger and shed the masks we wear.

Rishi Jaimini, through his Sutras, has already shown the path of the soul’s purpose. In this space, I share the observations on the Atma Karak, the planet at the highest degree in the chart, which corrects to become the True self.

In the story of Ganeshji, the loss of his head symbolizes the correction of the physical aspect, which led him to become the Supreme Leader of the Ganas and the master of wisdom. In the same way, the Atma Karak planet often afflicts the physical body and the Jeev element, while simultaneously granting mastery over the very sign / house in which it is placed in the chart.

The correction of the physical elements is essential, it clears the path for the Soul’s journey towards its true form / self.

With this understanding, let us now look at how the Atma Karaka operates in practical charts, where its placement in the Lagna (Ascendant / D1) reveals both the trials of correction and the mastery gained through them.

Example Chart 1

The chart below has Mercury as the Atma Karaka, functioning as both the 1st and 4th lord, placed in the 6th house in Scorpio along with Jupiter, and in exchange with Mars.

The placement of Mercury in the 6th house caused the native to lose his health due to hepatic amoebiasis complications, gastric disturbances, parasitic infection of the liver, and pleuropulmonary issues related to the lungs, arising from early malnutrition.

Here we see Mercury, the karak for the gut-brain axis, afflicted in Scorpio, the sign that represents chronic, repetitive infections. This brought significant suffering to the physical body.

Mercury, as the karak formal academic study, also shows affliction and other significations are numbers, critical analysis, data, accountancy.

The native lost early opportunities in education, repeatedly failing in subjects, except mathematics and resulting in no degree. Yet, later in life, he received an opportunity at Cambridge, England, and to become  “The Man Who Knew Infinity.”

Here, Ramanujan’s physical afflictions served to elevate his soul’s journey through exceptional mathematical insight.

Moreover, Mercury also represents Devi, and Scorpio signifies occult knowledge, intuition, and deep research. True to this symbolism, Ramanujan credited his life’s work to Devi Namagiri, who revealed mathematical theorems to him in dreams.

As he famously said:

“An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God.”

Example Chart 2

The chart below has retrograde Jupiter, as the lord of the 8th and 11th houses as the Atma Karak. It is exalted in the sign of Cancer in the 3rd house, while exchanging with the 8th house (Sagittarius) that hosts multiple planets.

Jupiter, being the karak for Kapha and oxygen, placed in Cancer, influenced the 3rd house (which governs environment and respiratory system). This resulted in chronic asthma due to inflammation of the airways and allergies triggered by the surroundings.

The Chart belongs to Osho Rajneesh, and in Cancer, the native also faced challenges connected to land, immigration, and the loss of approval from conservative sections of the public.

Further, since Jupiter represents philosophy, wisdom, and religion, Osho faced backlash from established religious institutions and leaders for his unconventional teachings.

Yet, Jupiter as the Atma Karak in exchange with the 8th house gave him mastery over the occult, tantra, meditation, and the profound task of healing seekers from sexual guilt and repression.

He embodied the very essence of unconventional Jupiterian philosophy.

In his own words:

“I am not giving you doctrines, I am giving you love, silence, and a taste of freedom.”

The entire Atma Karak circuit thus beautifully defines Osho’s true self.

Likewise, when you test this principle in your own chart or in the charts of others, you can observe how the Jeev element undergoes correction, revealing the true self in this lifetime and opening opportunities within the same area.

Jupiter Atmakarak brings the loss of validation from elders or the Guru, in order to shape the native into becoming a guide of their own unique kind.

Sun Atmakarak grants position, fame, and authority (including government roles if other combinations support it), but often through the loss of the father, a fatherly figure, or the challenges related to the sign it occupies.

Moon Atmakarak creates experiences of immigration or separation from the birth land and mother, while giving the knowledge of healing and public policies which resonate with the masses.

Venus Atmakarak brings challenges through multiple relationships and issues in eyesight, yet grants mastery over its significations, especially of Tantra, statecraft and refined arts.

When we examine the Dasha of the Atma Karak and its circuit, we can observe precise results along with the timeline of their results.

So, let us continue seeking our soul’s true purpose.

Thankyou!
